EARTHSHARE OF GEORGIA NEW CAMPAIGN AND MEMBER GROUPS

ATLANTA— (December 5, 2011) EarthShare of Georgia (ESGA) is partnering with the largest independent certified public accounting and business advisory firm based in Georgia, Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, LLP (HA&W), in their employee giving campaign. HA&W is also one of the top 50 accounting firms in the country. HA&W employs more than 300 professionals and offers a range of services from traditional accounting and tax services to business consulting, technology consulting, retirement plan administration, and financial staffing, as well as financial planning for individuals and businesses.

Angela Dotson, senior manager and HA&W’s Community Involvement Committee chair, said, “This is the first year we are including EarthShare of Georgia in our employee giving campaign and the response has been great. Our employees are very excited to be able to do something positive for our local environment. We are also raising funds for the United Way and our combined goal is to raise $25,000 by December 31st. I have encouraged staff to consider donating $5.00 per week—about the cost of a fancy latte—to help support our neighbors and the environment.”

EarthShare of Georgia also welcomes three new environmental member groups in 2012, Flint Riverkeeper, Friends of Georgia State Parks & Historic Sites and Savannah Riverkeeper. These three new member groups, recommended by the ESGA member group review committee in a process that takes place every three years, were approved for membership by the ESGA Board of Directors at the November 2011 board meeting. Beyond meeting the strict requirements for EarthShare of Georgia member group participation, the three new nonprofit environmental organizations were selected based on their environmental accomplishments, statewide presence and their ability to help open new EarthShare of Georgia employee giving campaigns outside of the Atlanta area.

As a statewide organization, EarthShare of Georgia aims to reach out in areas of the state of Georgia to expand employee giving programs and build environmental awareness. These three organizations represent different environmental areas of the state and strengthen ESGA’s outreach in Albany, Cartersville and Savannah. According to Madeline Reamy, Executive Director of EarthShare of Georgia, “Adding three new EarthShare of Georgia member groups is a great step towards building our statewide presence and increasing environmental awareness among Georgia’s citizens.”
