Earth Day 2008

Green Day  |  Party in the Park  |  Overview

Business and non-profit leaders from metro-Atlanta gathered to celebrate innovations in sustainable business practices at the Earth Day Leadership Breakfast. Now in its sixth year, the event was held at the TWELVE Hotel at Atlantic Station.

The 2008 keynote speaker was Jim Kennedy, chairman and chief executive officer of privately-held Cox Enterprises, Inc., one of the nation’s leading media companies and providers of automotive services. He is the grandson of former Ohio Governor and presidential candidate James M. Cox, who founded the company in 1898. He also serves as chairman of the board for Cox Radio, Inc. Mr. Kennedy spoke about Cox Conserves, Cox Enterprises' green initiative, and how Cox is meeting the challenge of 'greening' their company, and the benefits of an Earth Share of Georgia workplace campaign.

Past keynote speakers have included Governor Sonny Perdue, polar explorer, Robert Swan, oceanographer and environmentalist Jean Michelle-Cousteau, The Conservation Fund president and CEO, Larry Selzer and Charles Jordan, Chairman of the Board of The Conservation Fund.
