Green Day-April 17 This year's Green Day volunteers, led by experienced conservationists and teachers, will help repair stream beds, restore urban nature paths, and replenish Atlanta's tree canopy.
Earth Day Leadership Breakfast-April 22 The second annual, invitation-only Earth Day Leadership Breakfast will feature Jean-Michel Cousteau, marine conservationist and son of legendary oceanographer and filmmaker Jacques Cousteau, at The Carter Center in Atlanta.
Party in the Park...One Earth, One Day, One Party- April 24 Celebrate the grand finale of Earth Week 2004, a week when we encourage everyone to do just one thing to help our air, land and water, with the Earth Day party of the year. Student Projects to be Showcased at the 2004 Youth Environmental Symposium Will your middle of high school students be working on an environmental project to make your school or community a better place? If so, they could win one of three cash prizes in The Georgia Conservancy's 2004 Youth Environmental Symposium, on Friday, April 30th, 2004 at the Fox Theatre. YES showcases student-led projects that address local environmental issues. All types of projects are eligible, and ten finalists will present their projects to a panel of judges with winners receiving up to $2000.00. Concerned About Local Water Quality? The Atlanta Regional Commission wants you to be a part of the process for cleaner streams by attending a public meeting for individuals who live, work or own property in the Chattahoochee and Flint River Basins. Attendees will learn what streams are affected and discuss possible sources of pollution. Meetings will be held May 3-6, 2004 in locations around the Atlanta region. City of Atlanta Expands Recycling Program Citizens who have City of Atlanta recycling bins can now add mixed paper to their curbside bins. This includes old magazines, telephone directories, junk mail and boxboard, such as cereal boxes. Also accepted are old newspapers, aluminim cans, plastic bottles, and glass jars and bottles. You can also recycle corrugated cardboard at two new city drop-off locations:
